
JOIN OUR TEAM
The Studio Assistant supports the day-to-day running of our ceramic studio, and works in shifts during studio opening hours from Tuesday to Sunday. Reports to the Studio Manager. This is a paid position.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Work shifts during LUMP opening hours (Tue-Sun, 11am-9pm), including opening/closing shop

Provide technical, creative and administrative support to members when requested (members work independently and are not “taught” or given assignments).

Perform studio duties as required, including but not limited to (un)loading kilns, setting the firing schedule, changing kiln elements, recycling clay, operating pug mill, mixing glazes/slips, organizing and tidying studio, calculating firing costs, supporting studio events, and ordering materials

Ensure the studio is clean and running efficiently, and that materials like clays, glazes, oxides and slips are well stocked and ready for members to use

Answer enquiries, induct new members, renew memberships

Be the “face” of LUMP, setting a welcoming, supportive, and encouraging environment to all students and members

Uphold the rules and ways of working of the studio. Ensure the health and safety of all members and staff when they are in the studio

Drive and contribute to the studio’s on-going improvement
EXPERIENCE
2-3 years experience in ceramics. Preference given to candidates with experience running a studio
WORKING HOURS/LOCATION

This is a part-time position. We are looking for candidates who can work about 16 to 24 hours a week. Shifts are either 1/2 day (4 hours) or full day (8 hours)

They are also required to attend 1 team meeting per month, of about 2 hours. This may fall outside of their shift.
